Yes. NL Welding and Fabrication does mobile welding, for jobs that need fixing as soon as possible, on the farm or on the go. We travel across the Adelaide Hills, Murraylands, Barossa and Upper Coorong in South Australia, and we are available for urgent callouts after hours, with a callout fee.

Business hours and after hours

We work Monday to Thursday 7:30am to 4pm and Friday 7:30am to 3pm. If something urgent breaks after hours, we are available for a callout, with a callout fee. Ring us and we will tell you what we can do.

Can you weld on a Total Fire Ban day?

Not outdoors, unless you hold a Schedule 10 permit and follow its terms, and the Country Fire Service (CFS) says those are generally only issued for emergencies.

In the fire danger season, on a day with no Total Fire Ban, outdoor welding is allowed with a 10-metre cleared space, water or an extinguisher on hand, and someone able to control the welder there the whole time.

What to tell us when you call

Where the job is, what has broken and whether it can be moved. Tell us about anything close to the job that could catch fire, such as fuel, hay or dry grass. A photo of the break helps us work out the job.

Good jobs for a mobile welder
  • Farm machinery that cannot be moved
  • Stock yards and gates
  • Trailers and trays that have let go away from home
  • Steel that is fixed in place
  • Repairs for other businesses on their own site
  • Anything that cannot wait for a trip to the workshop
How it works

Three steps to back at work.

  1. Send a photo or call

Tell us what has broken and where it is. A photo of the break helps us work out what the job needs.

  2. Get a free quote

We work out the job and quote it, then you decide. Quotes are free.

  3. Back to work

Bring it to the workshop in Nairne, or we come out to you and fix it on site.

Questions people ask

What is mobile welding?

The welder comes to the job, so the job does not have to go to a workshop. It suits machinery that cannot be moved, gates and yards fixed in place, and anything that needs fixing as soon as possible.

Do I need a permit to weld?

In South Australia the CFS rules cover outdoor welding, grinding and cutting in the fire danger season. On a day with no Total Fire Ban, no permit is needed if there is a 10-metre cleared space around the work, water or an extinguisher on hand, and someone able to control the welder there the whole time.

On a Total Fire Ban day you need a Schedule 10 permit. Your local council's Authorised Officer can help with permits.

How much do mobile welders charge?

It depends on the job. What changes the cost is how complex the job is, the metal, the time on site, the travel, and whether it is urgent or after hours.

We do not list prices because every job is different, but our quotes are free. Send us a photo and we will work out what it needs.

Are you available after hours?

Yes, for urgent callouts, with a callout fee. Ring us and we will tell you what we can do.

Do you have public liability insurance?

Yes. We have public liability insurance.
